French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Hungary's new Prime Minister Peter Magyar at the Élysée Palace and announced the launch of a strategic partnership with Hungary.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Hungary's new Prime Minister Peter Magyar for the first time at the Élysée Palace and announced the launch of a strategic partnership with Hungary.

As reported by "European Truth," he made this statement on his X account.

Macron posted a joint photo with Peter Magyar at the entrance of the Élysée Palace and noted that the change of power in Hungary marks the beginning of a new era for both the country and Hungary in Europe.

Bienvenue, cher @magyarpeterMP.

"Today we decide to launch the preparation of a new strategic partnership between Hungary and France, with signing expected by the end of the year. This will deepen our relations in strategic areas such as defense, nuclear energy, infrastructure, transport, and agriculture," said the French president.

"This will also contribute to our agenda regarding 'European sovereignty,'" added Macron.

It is worth noting that Magyar's team announced a review of the expansion project of the Paks nuclear power plant, where the general contractor is the Russian state company "Rosatom."

Peter Magyar also expressed readiness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky early next week, if an agreement can be reached on the rights of the Hungarian minority.
