According to a Study, This Age is Considered 'Too Old' to Find Love
A recent study reveals the age considered 'too old' to find love varies by generation, challenging the belief that love has an age limit.

Is There Really an Age Where You Are Too Old to Find Love?
It is often said that love knows no age and transcends boundaries. This is quite true: regardless of gender, age, or culture, it is possible to meet your soulmate. In France, in 2020, one in five people identified as single. While some thirty-somethings are desperately seeking love, others let life, encounters, and time take their course. However, in the collective unconscious, there seems to be a sort of 'deadline' for meeting one’s soulmate. According to a study conducted by the dating platform Tawkify involving nearly 1,000 people, there exists an age beyond which it would no longer be possible to fall in love. Yes, you read that right.
Does Love Have a Deadline?
According to this survey, this age varies depending on the generations. For Generation Z (those born between 1997 and 2012), it is believed that after 62 years old, it would no longer be possible to find love. For millennials (those born between 1980 and 1990), this age is 68 years, but for Generation X (those born between 1965 and 1976), it drops to 63 years. Finally, baby boomers (those born between 1945 and 1960) are more optimistic, estimating the age at 71 years, and 17% of them also believe that there is no age limit to falling in love. That is reassuring!
However, according to Lucy Brown, a neuroscientist interviewed by YourTango, the feeling of love activates brain functions that are still operational at any age.
Is Love a Need for the Brain?
The expert discovered during further research that when a person looks at a photo of a loved one, a specific area of their brain activates (the ventral tegmental area of the midbrain). She explains: "This is the area of the brain that controls functions like swallowing and other fundamental reflexes". In short, it is an essential need, regardless of age. But it is important to understand that love is not only found in romantic relationships...
According to Jemma Sbeg, creator of a podcast dedicated to psychology, "Love is also and above all a platonic intimacy, the hug of a friend, unconditional support, shared common values, small services, and actions". So, you will understand, true love has many facets and can be built at any age, to our greatest happiness!
